Join us for a free showing of Rustin at the Ron Robinson Theater on Monday, February 26. The movie will be followed by a panel discussion about the importance of allyship and inclusion in movements for social change.

The architect of 1963’s momentous March on Washington, Bayard Rustin was one of the greatest activists and organizers the world has ever known. He challenged authority, never apologized for who he was, what he believed, or who he desired. And he did not back down. He made history, and in turn, he was forgotten.

Produced by Barack and Michelle Obama's production company Higher Ground, the film stars Colman Domingo in the title role, alongside Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Aml Ameen, Gus Halper, CCH Pounder, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Johnny Ramey, Michael Potts, Jeffrey Wright, and Audra McDonald. Rustin shines a long overdue spotlight on the extraordinary man who, alongside giants like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Adam Clayton Powell Jr., and Ella Baker, dared to imagine a different world and inspired a movement in a march toward freedom. Colman Domingo received his first Oscar nomination for Rustin, in the Best Actor for a Leading Role category.

The doors of the theater will open at 5:30PM and the film will begin at 6:30PM.

This showing is sponsored by the Little Rock Freedom Fund, Arkansas Public Policy Panel, Little Rock's Racial & Cultural Diversity Commission, InTRANSitive, Human Rights Campaign, The Micheaux Award & Film Labs, Yellow Velvet Studios, Get Loud Arkansas, Arkansas Cinema Society and the Central Arkansas Library System.
