Explore the radiant art of Jean-Michel Basquiat by recreating his style on wood canvases.

  • Learn about the life and art of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
  • Draw inspiration from how Basquiat:
    • mixed of styles and techniques, including those from his background in street art and graffiti,
    • abstracts and deconstructs his portraits, creating seemingly primitive forms richly layered in color
    • explores identity using a visual vocabulary of signs, symbols, and figures he developed in his art
  • Make your own multimedia painting on 9x12 inch wood art panel canvases
  • This Program is possible thanks to an Arts grant awarded by the Windgate Foundation
