CALS Brooks Library is hosting a free weekly read aloud of CALS #NEABigRead novel, There There, written by Tommy Orange, on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM, March 13 through May, 15, 2024, with light refreshments. Recordings of the readings will be posted on https://www.facebook.com/CALSBrooksLibrary/ if you miss the live read aloud. Free copies of the novel are available at CALS Brooks Library while supplies last if you would like to read along on your own. Ebook and audiobook versions of There There are also available on the Libby App. This is an adult novel that contains descriptions of violence and some profanity.
CALS Brooks Library is located in the City of Wrightsville Community Center in between the City Hall and the Gymnasium. This library branch is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 to 4:30 PM. On the 3rd Tuesday of each month the library stays open until 7PM and hosts an art night with free art supplies for patrons to express their creativity. A Potluck Food Rescue Distribution is held each Tuesday morning at 9:30 am while quantities last. A Be Mighty Food Pantry is located inside the library and a Little Free Pantry is located in the Wrightsville Community Center Park Lot. The Millie Brooks Library Community Garden is located in the city park behind the Community Center. The library has 4 Internet Stations for public use, free wifi, and offers copying, printing, scanning and faxing services. One study room is available for public use on a first come first serve basis. Table Top Games, an early childhood playroom, and a Video Game Room are available during regular library hours.
