Discussion with authors John Vercher (Devil Is Fine) & Phillip B. Williams (Ours).
John Vercher, who lives in the Philadelphia region, is an assistant teaching professor in the Department of English and Philosophy at Drexel University and has written three novels. Devil Is Fine is a profoundly moving novel about a struggling biracial writer forced to confront a dark family history while simultaneously reeling from the sudden death of his son.
Chicago native Phillip B. Williams is the author two full-length poetry collections and serves as a faculty member at the New York University and Randolph College MFA programs. An ingenious, sweeping, and much anticipated debut novel, Ours introduces readers to an enigmatic woman named Saint, a fearsome conjuror who, in the 1830s, annihilates plantations all over Arkansas to rescue the people enslaved there.
