Kevin Brockmeier, an award-winning novelist and short-story writer who has been called one of America's best practitioners of fabulist fiction, has participated in the Six Bridges Book Festival each year since its inception.


2024 marks the twenty-first Six Bridges Book Festival and also Kevin Brockmeier's twenty-first appearance on the roster. This year, he will be reading an essay about animals and literature from a collection of essays-in-progress, then chatting, taking questions, and signing books. Brockmeier's most recent book is The Ghost Variations: One Hundred Stories, a collection of very short flash fiction pieces addressing themes of souls, haunting, ghostliness, and the afterlife.

About the branch

The Ron Robinson Theater is a 315-seat multi-purpose event venue. Part of the Central Arkansas Library System’s (CALS) Main Library campus, it is designed to provide programs for all ages including films, music performances, plays, readings, lectures, speakers, and children’s activities. The theater is equipped with a state-of-the-art DCI-compliant Barco digital cinema projection system and 32′ wide retractable screen; and, a versatile sound system capable of Dolby 5.1 surround audio for movies, with a CL3 digital mixing console with ample inputs for traditional music concerts.
