About the authors:

William Boyle is the author of eight books set in and around the southern Brooklyn neighborhood of Gravesend, where he was born and raised. His most recent novel is Saint of the Narrows Street. His books have been nominated for the Hammett Prize, the New Blood Dagger Award, and the Grand Prix de Littérature Policière, and they have been included on best-of lists in the Washington Post, CrimeReads, and more. He lives in Oxford, Mississippi.

Lucas Schaefer’s work has appeared in One Story, the Baffler, Slate, and elsewhere. He holds an MFA from the New Writers Project at the University of Texas in Austin and lives with his family in Austin. The Slip is his first novel.

About the books:

Saint of the Narrows Street is an operatic crime drama portraying characters forced into desperate action and doomed to reckon with their decisions across three decades in their southern Brooklyn neighborhood.

The novel The Slip is a haymaker of an American novel that features a missing teenage boy, situations of shifting and mistaken identity, and the transformative power of boxing. Bobbing and weaving across the canvas of a changing country, it is an audacious, daring look at sex and race in America.
