National Coming Out Day is traditionally observed on October 11. It is a day of celebration and empowerment for LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies. It encourages people to embrace their true selves and live openly, free from fear and discrimination. This day also provides a platform for LGBTQ+ individuals to share their stories and experiences, helping to break down barriers and foster understanding among the broader community.
An annual observance dedicated to celebrating and supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ community as they share their authentic selves with the world. This day aims to raise awareness about the importance of coming out, challenge stereotypes and prejudices, and promote acceptance and inclusion. As National Coming Out Day approaches, let’s explore the significance of this day, when it takes place, how to get involved, its history, and ways to connect.
Join us Thursday October 9th for an evening of storytelling. We will feature locally known LGBTQIA+ leaders, individuals, and have an open mic for those who are inspired to tell about their journey in a safe space. The Ron Robinson Theater is a 315-seat multi-purpose event venue. Part of the Central Arkansas Library System’s (CALS) Main Library campus, it is designed to provide programs for all ages including films, music performances, plays, readings, lectures, speakers, and children’s activities. The theater is equipped with a state-of-the-art DCI-compliant Barco digital cinema projection system and 32′ wide retractable screen; and, a versatile sound system capable of Dolby 5.1 surround audio for movies, with a CL3 digital mixing console with ample inputs for traditional music concerts.
