Six Bridges Book Festival presents Governor Andy Beshear (Go and Do Likewise: How We Heal a Broken Country). Moderated by Coach John Calipari.

Join Governor Andy Beshear for a hopeful conversation about reclaiming faith as a force for good instead of harm and healing a divided nation through our shared values. Centered around his new book, Go and Do Likewise: How We Heal a Broken Country, Governor Beshear will share stories of healing, justice, forgiveness, welcoming, and moral clarity.

Seating is limited. Registration is required for this event. Seating is first come, first serve.

Doors will open at 7:30am. Attendees will be required to go through security and will be scanned with a metal detector wand before entering CALS Ron Robinson Theater.

Pre-signed copies of the Go and Do Likewise will be available at the event and sold by WordsWorth Books. Governor Beshear will not be signing or personalizing books at this event.

IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT EVENT:

We know our community is excited about this event! We want to be transparent with you to ensure a positive experience for everyone:

• Seating for this event will be first come, first serve for all registered guests, and we will not allow anyone to save seats in the theater for registered guests coming later.
• Ron Robinson Theater has 315 seats. Once those seats are full, we will direct attendees to a live-stream in the Darragh Center (5th Floor, CALS Main Library).
• We suggest arriving early to ensure a seat in Ron Robinson Theater.
• It is our practice to allow more people to register for our free events than we have available seats in the auditorium, because typically, many people who register for our free events do not show up.

If your plans have changed and you are now unable to attend on October 1, please update your reservation following the instructions below. That helps us plan! However, we are arranging to offer overflow seating in the Darragh Center in the event that Ron Robinson Theater reaches capacity.

In Go and Do Likewise, Governor Beshear shares what his own faith has meant to him, how it has informed his family and his public life—and serves as a rebuke to how faith has been hijacked, profaned, misused, and corrupted by Donald Trump and other public figures. By regrounding faith in compassion and kindness, Beshear believes we can start to heal as a country. 
 
Whether you support organized religion or simply believe in the golden rule, this evening is a powerful reminder of the values that can truly unite us.  
 
Governor Andy Beshear is a born-and-raised Kentuckian. Before he was elected Governor in 2019, Andy served as the state’s Attorney General since 2015, working as a lawyer on behalf of the government for the people of Kentucky. Andy and his wife, Britainy, have two children, Will and Lila, and dog Winnie. His family attends Beargrass Christian Church, where both Andy and Britainy serve as deacons. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt with a bachelor’s in political science and anthropology and holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia law school.

ASL interpretation will be provided for all Six Bridges sessions held in CALS Ron Robinson Theater. ASL interpretation for sessions at other CALS locations and Six Bridges venues (including CALS Main Library) will be provided by request. CALS will validate parking in the CALS Library Square surface lot and the CALS Parking Deck. The entrance to the surface lot is located on 2nd Street near River Market Ave. The entrance to the parking deck is located on Rock Street and can be accessed from President Clinton Ave. Street parking is also available throughout the River Market District (free after 6pm and on weekends).
